A: It is just lovely to use, pretty, grippy, scrubby, makes no mess and lasts for ages.
What is Felted Soap?
Felted soap is a bar of soap that has a layer of wool felted onto it, forming a soft woolly coating. The wool felt sticks closely to the soap and shrinks with the bar of soap as it is used. Once the soap is all used up you are left with a small pad of wool felt. Wool felt is 100% biodegradable, as it is made purely from natural sheep wool, so there is no harmful packaging. In fact the wool pad can be re-used as a cleaning or polishing pad. You could even leave a little bit of soap still in the felt and use it to keep clothing draws smelling fresh.
How do you use Felted Soap?
Felted soap is like a soap bar and loofah all in one. You wet it and rub it in your hands to work up a lather, then apply the bar directly to your skin as you would a sponge or loofah. It is gently exfoliating and being a totally natural product should be kind to your skin.
No Mess and Last Ages
Bars of soap can be messy, but you will find that a felted soap bar will not leave a mess. It will also last ages as there is no waste.
How is felted Soap Made?
It is a manual process that takes practice! I apply fine layers of natural wool to the bar of soap and then keep adding hot water and lots of rubbing. Heat + agitation = felt. The wool gradually felts together and shrinks onto the soap. It is then left to air dry at room temperature.
Natural Soap is all I Use
I only use natural soap to make my felted soap bars, from an ethical UK soap maker who is certified for using only SLS free, paraben free, palm oil free, plastic free, cruelty free ingredients.
Felted Soap Makes a Great Gift
I find it quite funny that I often sell my felted soap bars to customers who are buying them as gifts for other people. When I ask if the recipient enjoyed the soap, I often get the reply – “they were too nice to give away, so I kept them for myself”.
My felted soap bars can be purchased from my online shop.
