The East Hill Mill brand is named after a narrowboat called East Hill.
NB East Hill is licensed to trade on most of the UK inland waterways. The UK has over 2000 miles of beautiful navigable waterways and they provide a fantastic way of travelling around and exploring. From the canals or rivers you see places from a different perspective. Our waterways were the transport system of the 18th and 19th centuries, used to transport goods, such as coal, wool, pottery, steel, wheat around the UK by boat. They fell into disuse when the railways and eventually roads took over. Now they have a new lease of life that can be enjoyed by all.
Often our handmade products are made aboard East Hill while we are travelling about. I can often be seen sitting on the towpath, with my spinning wheel, which I use to spin wool into yarn in the traditional way.
We are licensed to sell our handmade products from the boat, so we will often set up an impromptu pop up shop when we moor up. We also attend organised floating markets, together with other floating traders.
Where Can You Buy Our Handmade Items
As well as buying products from our pop up shop, you can order directly from our online shop.
