Gotland Fleece Wool Rug – SOLD

SOLD

This fleece is absolutely stunning! Just look at those curls. This rug is thick and heavy, a mix of light and dark grey tones.

This 100% British Wool rug is made from the fleece of a Gotland ram named Silver. Silver lives in a wool only flock of pedigree Gotland sheep.

The rug has been handmade by myself, the whole process is manual, wet felting using only natural ingredients; a lot of elbow grease and natural soap. It has a Shetland wool backing, which is also British wool.

Description

These rugs are often referred to as vegetarian sheep skin rugs, this is because they are made from the sheared fleece that is clipped each year to keep the sheep cool in summer and prevent fly strike.

There is no skin. A wool felted backing is applied to the fleece, so that the end product looks like a sheep skin rug, but has a far more natural look and retains the character and beauty of the natural fleece.
