Large Vegetarian Sheepskin Rug / Throw – Scottish Blackface Fleece

This lovely big fleece makes a beautiful rug or throw. It is mainly white and cream, with very long locks. The fleece comes from the 2019 sheared fleece of a Scottish Blackface sheep.

Size:
Width: average 114cm
Length: average 135cm

This fleece is soft in the middle, and coarser at the edges where the long locks are; perfect for protecting a sheep in the harsh Scottish weather.

The fleece does shed a little, some do, some don’t, it depends on breed. There was some grass seed and tiny bits of vegetation in this fleece, as can only be expected when it has been on the back of a sheep, living outdoors all year. I have brushed and washed it out, but you may still find tiny little bits of vegetation hiding in there! Hey, it is a natural product.

Description

Rug is made from 100% British wool; a complete Scottish Blackface fleece, backed with Shetland Wool Felt. It is completely handmade by myself using wet felting and needle felting. I use natural soap in the wet felting stage.

Care Instructions
Can be gently brushed, but roots of locks must be held in place while brushing to avoid tearing them away from the felt backing.

Can be gently handwashed in a wool soak product with cool water. Do not agitate in the wash. Lift out carefully supporting the backing, so as not to rip locks away under the weight of the water. Dry flat away from direct heat.
