Vegetarian Sheep Skin Rugs

My felted wool fleece rugs, known as “vegetarian sheepskin rugs” are handmade from 100% British wool fleeces, by myself in the UK. They look like sheepskin rugs but there is no skin, as they are made from clipped fleeces.

Sheep are clipped or sheared each summer for animal welfare reasons. The warm fleece that kept them warm all winter would be too hot and heavy to keep on during the summer. I buy the sheared sheep fleeces from selected small UK flocks, where animal welfare is of prime importance. I add a wool backing to the fleeces. The end result is a rug that looks like a traditional sheep skin rug, but contains no skin, just wool.
